Proverbs 1 - The beginning and end of Wisdom

1:5 Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. Let those with understanding receive guidance 6 by exploring the meaning in these proverbs and parables, the words of the wise and their riddles.

If ever there were a true dichotomy in life and in God's word, this would be it. The beginning of Proverbs points clearly to what will happen if you heed God's word, if you seek knowledge and wisdom, and if you walk in integrity. You will find peace, you will prosper, you gain additional wisdom, you will be esteedmed by others, your children will gain favor with the Lord, etc. This list of blessings goes on and on. I wish that we would see parents, churches, youth groups, etc. place more emphasis on teaching this one principle.

On the other hand, it also warns what will happen if you choose to ignore God, His word, and His advice. He does not pull any punches in this scripture. God will laugh at you and mock you if you choose to ignore Him and reject His correction. Do you ever feel like you don't know God, don't hear God, or He doesn't hear you? Have you ever felt like God was laughing at you? How about having your prayers bounce off the walls and not go anywhere? Book knowledge will not suffice. A personal realtionship is required. That is something that everyone must have in order to come into communion with God.

1:25 You ignored my advice and rejected the correction I offered. 26 So I will laugh when you are in trouble! I will mock you when disaster overtakes you

Does this mean that God does not or will not love us if we turn back to Him. Absolutely not! I am living proof. Many years I ignored God, many times I did exactly the opposite of His will and His teaching. But God still pursued me
