Proverbs 9 - Dinner Time

1 Wisdom has built her house, She has hewn out her seven pillars; 2 She has slaughtered her meat, She has mixed her wine, She has also furnished her table. 3 She has sent out her maidens, She cries out from the highest places of the city, 4 “ Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” As for him who lacks understanding, she says to him, 5 “ Come, eat of my bread And drink of the wine I have mixed.

Wisdom (Christ) has set out His best for us. He is waiting for us to come to his banqueting table and rejoice with Him. Why is it we seem to be so stupid then? Why is our country run by fools and we as fools allow it. The text I have highlighted emphasizes the extent the Christ want us to join Him. The number seven is used throughout the bible as a number of perfection. To eat slaughtered meat with the host in biblical times was to be the honored guest. When a friend invites you over to eat steak, don't you feel honored. And then mixed wine. I am not sure how much you know about wine but the best most expensive wines are mixed from a variety of grapes. Cabernets, Syrahs, Zinfandels, are all made by mixing the choicest of grapes. And then Solomon tops it off by saying that wisdom (Christ) cries out from the highest places of the city. That is like making a public announcement over the television media to come join for the grandest, free feast of all time. Yet so many turn away. Are you ready to join Christ at his banqueting table? Are you dining with Him now? All you have to do is accept the invitation
